EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado ” If deputies can’t find any leads soon, a local 21-year-old is going to be out of more than $1,000 worth of snowboarding gear lost in Eagle-Vail, Colorado

He told deputies that he and his brother visited a friend on Eagle-Vail Road on Nov. 17 and when they left, he realized the latch on the bed of his truck was open and his ski gear slipped off the bed and onto the road.

He pulled over and saw somebody hop out of a dark gray sedan and pick up his stuff and shove it into the car. The car drove off, and he chased the car in his truck, but couldn’t get close enough to get a license plate or accurate description of the passenger whom he said stole the gear.

He told deputies the passenger picked up a 2008 Never Summer snowboard with a yellow top scattered with miscellaneous stickers and a blue bottom. He estimated the value of the board, plus his missing blue and white bindings, at around $700. Two pair of Vans snowboard boots estimated at $250 a pair were lost in the incident as well.

Deputies said unless leads or a suspect surface, the case is inactive.
