Drug suspect nabbed in Eagle

Eagle Valley Enterprise
Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE, Colorado ” An anonymous tip about a man dealing drugs throughout the valley prompted an investigation, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said.

The tipster provided the suspect’s telephone number.

An undercover deputy called the suspect, posing as a drug dealer, and arranged a meeting. The suspect agreed to meet the undercover deputy at a fast food outlet in Eagle to sell him two “eight-balls” of cocaine for $200, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The deputy, fitted with a wireless radio transmitter and fake money, was sent to the restaurant while other officers established surveillance. When the suspect arrived in the parking lot, the undercover deputy got into his car and discussed further business dealings, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect told the deputy that he could supply “rock” (crack cocaine); and that he was looking for someone to work with him, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect also offered to provide a vehicle.

The deputy then asked the suspect if he had brought the cocaine he had requested. The suspect pulled out a bag containing cocaine, the Sheriff’s Office said.

As the deputy pulled out money, detectives moved in and took the suspect into custody.

GYPSUM ” A woman reported that $95 was missing from her residence on Second Street in Gypsum. She told a deputy that the night before she had left Brush Creek Saloon and was walking along Highway 6 near Grand Avenue Grill where she met an unknown man, who was also hitchhiking.

He suggested that they hitch a ride together. She agreed. Then he told her that he didn’t have a place to stay for the night. She offered him a bed at her house.

When they got to her house she went straight upstairs and went to bed. When she woke up in the morning, $95 she had placed near her stereo in her room was gone, as was the stranger.

There are no leads in the case.
