Drunk snowmobiler takes I-70, cops say

AVON ” Police busted a snowmobiler who was reportedly riding drunk on Interstate 70, Feb. 20, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.
Someone reported seeing two snowmobilers exiting off Interstate 70 into Edwards. An officer saw the men riding on Highway 6 in Avon. The men revved up their engines and escaped from the officer.
Another deputy caught one of the men. The 24-year-old snowmobiler admitted having a couple shots of vodka and failed a roadside sobriety test. He said he was riding with a 29-year-old man, who police tried to contact by phone, but to no avail.
The 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of operating a snowmobile on a highway and driving under the influence
AVON ” A 43-year-old man went to have his vehicle inspected at the Avon Police Department and left with a drunk driving charge the morning of Feb. 23, according to an police report.
An officer was conducting the inspection when he smelled alcohol. He asked the 43-year-old whether he had had anything to drink that day. The man said, “No.” The officer asked the man whether he drank heavily the night before and the man said, “Yes.”
The man then blew a .073 in a breath test.
The man was charged with driving while ability impaired and given a ride to his apartment in Edwards.
AVON ” Two men wet themselves on a bus as they attempted to find the way back home Feb. 18, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.
A 51-year-old Florida man and a 46-year-old Connecticut man boarded a bus and told its driver they wanted to go to Beaver Creek West. The driver explained that they had to go back and wait for the town shuttle.
The men didn’t understand the driver and one urinated on the bus. The driver ordered the men off the bus and the men tried to board another bus. That second bus driver refused to let the men on and called police.
Both men had trouble standing and had wet spots on their pants, police noticed. The men told the officer they could not remember what happened.
The men were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and hindering public transportation.
VAIL ” A drunk 27-year-old woman called police after bar bouncers tried to kick her out for yelling at a band the night of Feb. 23, said Detective Sgt. Craig Bettis of the Vail Police Department.
The woman was screaming at some musicians performing at The Club Friday night when bouncers tried to throw her out. She told the bouncers to let her go and asked to press charges when she called the police.
When police arrived, the woman was cursing outside The Club. She began walking, then running away from The Club. After a struggle, police stopped her.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and trespassing.
