DUI supect changes mind on blood test

Eagle Valley Enterprise
Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE-VAIL – A deputy pulled a 43-year-old man over for speeding on Highway 6 near Eagle-Vail March 28.

The officer suspected the man had been drinking alcohol and asked him to get out of the car. The man had a hard time keeping his balance and the officer thought he was going to fall over several times.

The man failed all roadside maneuvers and elected to take a blood test at the hospital. He cursed and called the officer a liar while en route to the hospital.

At the hospital, the man decided not to take the test. The officer told him he’d lose his license for a year if he refused. The man still said no. The deputy began escorting him out and the man changed his mind to take the test. Back in the hospital, the man again decided not to take the test and the officer had to ask him several times to stop cursing and yelling.

The man was issued a summons for DUI and speeding, and escorted to a cab.
