Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – The Dummy Demolition Derby will take place Dec. 9 at the Golden Peak base area beginning at 5 p.m. Registration is under way at vail.com/snowdaze.

Dummy Demolition Derby is a sport of sorts where teams of one to three people construct snow-riding dummies attached to a pair of skis or a snowboard and launch the handmade contraptions off a giant snow jump and over a massive flamethrower. Dummies are judged on distance, air, creativity, takeoff, landing and crowd response. The first place team will take home a purse of $3,000, with $1,500 and $500 going to the second and third place teams, respectively.

Entry cost is $100 per team and is limited to a field of 20 on a first come, first served basis. Registration is now open to the public online at http://www.vail.com/snowdaze. Detailed event information, such as rules and judging criteria, will be emailed to participants upon registration.
