Dump truck rolls over on I-70 in Vail

VAIL ” A dump truck rolled on its side and spilled dirt, rocks and diesel fuel onto Interstate 70 in West Vail Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities closed one lane in each direction around 2:45 p.m. while crew cleared the freeway of debris from the dump truck, registered with WVC Construction of Commerce City.
No one was injured, authorities said.
Some of the diesel fuel from the dump truck’s 125-gallon tank went into a storm drain next to South Frontage Road and spilled into Gore Creek, Vail Fire Deputy Chief Mike McGee said.
Firefighters are cleaning up the diesel fuel, he said.

This is the second major incident involving a truck that closed the interstate in Vail in less than a week.
On Thursday, a 36-year-old man was hit and killed by one or more vehicles at mile marker 178 as was he was removing snow chains from his tractor trailer, which was parked at the side of the road.
