Durango rider hospitalized after bike race crash
DURANGO, Colorado ” A cyclist is hospitalized in good condition after crashing during a race in Durango over the Memorial Day weekend.
Iron Horse Bicycle Classic race director Gaige Sippy says 22-year-old Samuel Craven of Durango was taking part in the men’s 19-34 class Sunday afternoon when one of his wheels touched the wheel of another rider, triggering the fall.
Paramedics on standby for the event were nearby and responded to the scene. Craven was rushed to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango.
Sippy says Craven was last reported in good condition.
The crash occurred in the early stages of the race, which resumed after the accident scene was cleared.
