E. Meadow Drive work starts up

VAIL – Construction work along East Meadow Drive has begun.As with the Village Streetscape project, weekly meetings will be held to keep business and property owners informed about the work’s progress. The weekly meetings begin today, Aug. 31, and will be held every Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Sonnenalp Oberstdrof conference room. Work includes:Aug. 31: • Initial utility work (one day only).• Water valve installation at Village Center. The area will have one-lane traffic with flaggers for one day. The project also includes a four-hour water service shutdown to Crossroads, the Village Inn Plaza area, Talisman, Swiss Chalet and Village Center.Sept. 7-16:• Vail Road Intersection. Staging will begin at 5 a.m. Sept. 7 to prepare for sewer and waterline work at intersection of Meadow Drive and Vail Road. Small vehicle traffic will be re-routed through the 1st Bank parking lot. Hospital and emergency services access will be maintained. Large delivery trucks will be rerouted to Village Center Road. Flaggers will be used for traffic control and pedestrian movement. Work will continue seven days a week. Normal traffic will resume on Sept. 17 on Vail Road. There is the possibility of single lane traffic during paving. Flaggers will be used for traffic control and pedestrian movement. • East Meadow Drive from Vail Road to Willow Bridge Road. Removal of the entire concrete roadway. Pedestrian traffic will be routed to north side of the road. A 6 foot wide walking surface for pedestrians will be in place, narrowing to 4 feet in some places during a limited period. The route will be a dismount zone for bikes. Three valves will be installed to maintain water service to area buildings. Each installation will require a water shutdown of up to two hours. All properties will receive advance notification. • Swiss Chalet demolition will take place during the project.• No work will take place during Vail Village Oktoberfest, Sept. 18-19Utility Work, Sept. 20-Nov. 20• East Meadow Drive. Work includes sanitary sewer, waterline and storm sewer installation from Vail Road to Village Inn Plaza area. Pedestrian access will continue on north side. No work will occur beyond Nov. 20 on Meadow Drive. • One Willow Bridge Road (formerly Swiss Chalet) construction will continue throughout the winter.
