Eagle approves $27,000 for ice rink repairs
EAGLE, Colorado – As the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink gears up for the summer swimming season, the facility is looking at some expensive ice rink repairs.
The Eagle Town Board has conditionally approved a $27,000 contribution for repairs to the rink refrigeration system, compressors, roof and more.
Tom Gosoirowski, town engineer, presented a list of high, medium and low priority repairs needed at the rink. The total price tag is nearly $88,000. The facility’s capital improvements fund has $37,000 available for the project. To complete the required work, the committee is asking both the town and the Western Eagle County Recreation District to contribute $27,000 each.
Town board members will meet with the rec district board to discuss the issue, but in the meantime, town officials agreed to allocate the money. “If we want to use this facility in any marketing proposals, we need to spend this money on upkeep,” said Mayor Ed Woodland.
