Eagle Co. gets grant for hybrid fleet
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” The county received more than $60,000 from a state grant to help pay for its fleet of hybrid Prius cars.
The grant was part of a reimbursement program that gives rebates on the purchase of any alternative fuel vehicle. Eagle County got $3,013 for each of its 20 cars, County Communications Director Justin Finestone said.
“It’s basically like getting two free cars,” he said.
Getting the rebate and saving money on gas means they the county has definitely made the money back on the hybrids, County Commissioner Peter Runyon said.
The county bought the cars in 2006 for $21,500 each. The money from the rebate will go back into the county’s general fund, Finestone said.
