Eagle Co. rec district board president rewarded

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” Michael Glass, president of the Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District’s board of directors, has won a Distinguished Board Member Award from the Special District Association of Colorado.
The award is given each year to special district board members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication and service to their district.
Glass, who also is president of Alpine Bank, has shared his financial expertise with the board during his five years of service. During those five year, the district says, it has enjoyed increasing financial stability.
Glass, a former volunteer youth football coach, has focused on making recreation programs affordable. He was a major supporters of the “youth fees rollback” initiative, which reduced registration fees by up to 44 percent. As a result, participation in youth sports increased by 20 percent.
Glass also helped implement the “Ball for All” program, in which any boy or girl who signs up for a sports program gets a free practice ball for that activity.
