Eagle collision leads to DUI arrest

EAGLE, Colorado –Eagle Police were called to the busy Eby Creek Road/Chambers Avenue intersection during the lunch hour last week when two vehicles collided.
The accident happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. on July 13 and involved a Ford van and a minivan. The driver of the Ford told police he had a green light and the right of way when the other vehicle pulled in front of his car. He couldn’t stop and collided with the minivan.
When the Eagle officer approached the other driver, he noted the man was acting nervous and was unsteady on his feet. The officer also noted the driver had bloodshot, glassy eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol.
After checking the man’s license, the officer learned it had been revoked. The man was arrested and a subsequent test revealed his blood alcohol count was .204, more than twice the legal limit.
The man was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield and failure to provide insurance or vehicle registration.
