Eagle conserved water in 2009
Eagle, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado – The town of Eagle reduced its annual potable water consumption by 10 percent in 2009.
This equates to a savings of more than 40 million gallons of water, with the largest reductions noted in the residential sector. Government operations, including park maintenance, reduced its consumption by more than 14 percent.
“This reduction is a testament to the success of the mandatory watering ordinance, which restricted lawn irrigation to three days per week and prohibited wasteful use of water,” said Roman Yavich, sustainability coordinator for the town. “In addition, town residents were provided with an online tool for calculating the appropriate length of time to water their lawn.”
The calculator, where residents can choose their location, sprinkler type, and turf type and slope, will be available next spring as well and can be accessed at: http://saver.denverwater.org/runtimescheduler.asp.
