Eagle County airport seeks volunteers for drill
Gypsum, CO Colorado
GYPSUM, Colorado – The Eagle County Regional Airport is preparing for an aircraft disaster drill, scheduled to occur on Aug. 19. A test of the airport emergency plan occurs every three years with a full-scale drill, per Federal Aviation Administration requirements. The purpose of the drill is to evaluate emergency response times, incident command and communications, airport fire department capabilities and mutual-aid capabilities from other responding agencies.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the drill, to serve either as victims with simulated injuries or as friends and family members of the victims of the disaster. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Those interested in participating should call the airport at 328-2680 and leave a name and call-back number.
The drill will include over 20 local emergency agencies from throughout the area. Additional details will become available as the event nears. For more information, call Bryan Kohrmann of the Eagle County Airport Fire Department at 328-2688.
