Eagle County airport to be featured on History Channel

GYPSUM, Colorado – The History Channel’s “Most Extreme Airports” will highlight the Eagle County Regional Airport on Tuesday’s episode.

The show is set to air between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Camera crews from the show filmed footage over the winter, including videos of takeoffs and landings.

The airport seems to have been selected for its unique approach and departure paths, which are similar to those of many Colorado mountain airports, said Chris Anderson, terminal manager for the Eagle County Regional Airport.

“It’s a lot like any mountain airport,” Anderson said. “There’s surrounding terrain that brings a little different element to flying an aircraft in and out of the airport.”
