Eagle County announces volunteer award winners

Eleven Eagle County citizens and one Eagle County non-profit organization have been named volunteer award winners by the advisory team for the Eagle County Volunteer Center. The winners names have also been submitted to The Governor’s Colorado Cares Volunteer Service Awards committee. Colorado Cares honors Colorado citizens who demonstrate exemplary commitment to their community and service to others. The Eagle County award winners are: Cathie Douglas, Vail Centennial Award recognizes a Colorado resident who has made a significant and lifelong contribution to the state through volunteerism Robi Darcy, Basalt Children/Youth Award recognizes volunteers who help with the children/youth of Eagle County Joanne Moore, Edwards Seniors Award recognizes volunteers who assist the senior population Jenny Ellringer, Gypsum Health Award recognizes volunteers who assist those with health related needs Jon Asper, Greater Eagle Fire District Community Pride Award recognizes volunteers who participate in community clean-up and are community cheerleaders” Candace Casper, Avon Education Award recognizes volunteers who participate and support the education of youth and adults Robyn Hanson, Gypsum Good Samaritan Award recognizes volunteers who contribute significantly to the welfare of the socially & economically challenged Dick Cleveland, Vail Environment Award recognizes volunteers who support the beauty of the county Michelle Hiland, Avon Rising Star Award recognizes youth who participate in the community through volunteerism Four Eagle County award winners were named in the category of Other, which recognizes volunteers who routinely support Colorado but do not fit into any other category. They include: Greg Lestikow, Vail Corporate Volunteerism Award Gwen Scalpello, Vail Culture Award Vail Mountain Rescue Group Backcountry Emergency Response Award The Board of County Commissioners will honor the Eagle County award winners at a Volunteer Center luncheon this fall. Colorado award recipients will be notified by the Governors office to attend an August recognition event.
