Eagle County gets grant for weather broadcasts
Vail, CO Colorado
WASHINGTON – Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet on Monday announced that the United Stated Department of Agriculture Rural Development awarded Holy Cross Electric a weather radio grant of $33,670.
The grant will help fund a 300-watt dual transmitter and antenna to broadcast official Weather Service warnings, watches and other hazard information to Eagle and surrounding counties, including southern Routt, eastern Garfield and western Grand. The broadcast system will allow local schools, hospitals, businesses and families to receive safety information.
“Too often families and businesses in Colorado do not have enough information about approaching threatening weather to properly prepare and protect themselves,” Bennet said. “These resources will help improve safety in Eagle County and surrounding areas by ensuring residents are informed of any hazards in the area.”
