Eagle County Habitat affiliate has built 27 homes

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado – Habitat for Humanity achieved the rank of No. 8 on the Builder 100 list with 5,294 closings, marking the first time it has been among the top 10 biggest homebuilders in the United States.
The list also shows Habitat moved up three spots in 2009 from its 2008 ranking of No. 11. –
Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties, the local affiliate, continues to build in Edwards. Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties has built 27 homes, housing more than 80 children, since its inception in 1995. Having gone from building 1-2 homes per year, it’s now building 4-6 homes each year.
There are four duplexes currently under construction at Fox Hollow in Edwards. The need is as great as ever and it is estimated that 3,000 families would qualify for the Habitat program in this area, according to local Habitat spokeswoman Kristi Moon.
