Eagle County high school Nordic skiers picked up three podium spots at Saturday’s Colorado High School Ski League state qualifier races at Maloit Park.

Vail Mountain School’s Will Brunner won at home in the morning 3-kilometer classic race. In the afternoon 5-kilometer skate race, Battle Mountain’s Lindsey Whitton came in third to lead the Huskies to a second-place girl’s team finish. Vail Mountain’s Isla Elton also picked up a podium finish, placing third in the girl’s classic event.

Summit’s Ella Hagen won both races, taking the classic in a time of 10 minutes, 46.7 seconds and the skate in 18:11.5. Her Tiger teammate, James Sowers was victorious in the skate race, taking a 23-second victory over Poudre’s Cade Shortridge as Carter Niemkiewicz and Brunner, who came in third and fourth, respectively.

Tyler Blair’s fifth-place finish led Eagle Valley in the skate race. The Devils tied the Huskies for third in the boy’s skate race team scores.
