EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado The students in Therese Plains fourth grade class at the Eagle County Charter Academy were asked recently If you could give a Christmas gift to the world, what would it be?There answers and artwork, which appear below, ranged from parents able to spend more time with their kids to a cleaner environment to world peace:

If I could give the world a gift, it would be less global warming. The reason why is because the polar bears are now on the endangered species list because all the ice is melting and they are drowning. Also, because some islands with people on them are being covered with water. We need to save our earth.

Keep our earth cleaner, do recycle, don’t abuse. Keep the planet nice. Do these things to help: reduce, reuse, recycle. Give our earth a gift. Give the world a gift of beauty.

If I could give the world a gift, it would be a cleaner atmosphere. The smog is creating global warming. It is melting glaciers everywhere. In China, poeple have to wear masks to live there. We need to help our earth.

If I could give the world a gift, it would be to save the rain forest. People keep on cutting down trees and they dont realize how many homes for animals they take down. It makes me so sad to realize that people are taking down exotic animal homes. My wish will always be to save the rain forest.

If I could give the world a gift, it would be to not make all the parents work so hard. All the parents are so busy. They work so hard for their money. It would be nice if they could spend more time with their children and families.

If I could give the world two gifts, they would be knowledge and time. The time to fix, heal and forgive. The knowledge to save our world and see the good in people. Lets just drop the guns and start over.

If I could give the world a gift, it would be for workers to stop building houses and buildings. It is destroying habitats of deer, elk, coyotes and bears. They have no place to sleep. We like to look at beautiful, snow-capped mountains and watching wild animals running free.

If I could give the world gift, it would be love. Everyone would get along and be friends. No more wars, just love.
