Eagle County law enforcement hosts National Night Out events
EAGLE COUNTY — Eagle County law enforcement agencies will be hosting local neighborhood gatherings Tuesday for National Night Out. National Night Out is an event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention and awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen community spirit and police-community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out events are being held throughout the country and Eagle County, including three events in Avon from 6-8 p.m. at the Aspens Community Park, the O’Neil Spur Park in Wildridge and on Eagle Bend Drive at the Eagle Bend Apartments, as well as one event in Eagle from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Eagle Town Park. Catholic Charities and Bright Future Foundation will also be participating through the Law Enforcement Immigrant Advisory Committee.
The Vail Police Department will be holding a National Night Out event Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Timber Ridge Apartments, located at 1280 North Frontage Road West, in Vail. Patrol officers and code enforcement officers will be on hand to answer any questions and to distribute information about future and current programs and events, such as the firearms safety program, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and employment opportunities within the Vail Police Department, including police officers, Code enforcement officers and emergency services dispatchers. The Volunteers in Police Service members will also be available to answer questions about their role in helping the Vail Police Department accomplish its mission. Hamburgers, hotdogs and refreshments will be served.
