Eagle County libraries have new computers
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” Fifty new computers have been installed in the libraries in Avon, Eagle and Gypsum.
The new computers have the Windows XP operating system, Microsoft Office Suite and OpenOffice.org. They also have Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox Internet Web browsers. The computers have LCD flat-screen monitors and USB ports.
“The main reason for the upgrade is that the old machines were starting to die,” said Anne Johnson, assistant director and systems librarian for the Eagle Valley Library District. “They were all about five years old and that is when we like to replace them.”
The libraries sell 128MB flash drives or $10 each.
The old computers were sent to a technology recycling center in Grand Junction.
