Eagle County nonprofits participate in Colorado Gives Day

AVON, Colorado – Local nonprofits are participating in the first-ever Colorado Gives Day.

The Roundup River Ranch, SOS Outreach and the Vail Valley Foundation will benefit from the event.

Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank and being held on Wednesday, Colorado Gives Day is 24-hour period to “give where you live” by making online donations to the hundreds of charities featured on Community First Foundation’s online giving resource called GivingFirst.org.

As profiled charities on GivingFirst.org, Roundup River Ranch, SOS Outreach and the Vail Valley Foundation will benefit from this initiative and the $1 million one-day fundraising goal.

“Roundup River Ranch is excited to be a part of the first-ever Colorado Gives Day. We rely on the generous support of donors to help send children with life-threatening illnesses to camp,” said Ruth Johnson, CEO of Roundup River Ranch. “It’s a great way to promote philanthropy in Colorado and provide support for many worthy organizations.”

Additionally, Roundup River Ranch has been approved by the State of Colorado as a licensed child care organization, which qualifies the camp to offer the Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit. If you are a Colorado taxpayer, depending upon your individual tax situation, your monetary donation to Roundup River Ranch through Colorado Gives Day on Wednesday may be eligible to receive up to a 50 percent state tax credit. This credit is in addition to your federal income tax deduction.

“We created this concept, along with our partner FirstBank, to address the growing needs of our state’s nonprofit sector,” said Kenneth W. Eggeman, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Now is the time to increase charitable giving in Colorado and we believe that Colorado Gives Day will allow us to achieve this goal. We are grateful for the support of the nonprofit sector and from the individual charities profiled on GivingFirst.org – together we will raise much needed funds for Colorado nonprofits.”
