Eagle County offers free Question, Persuade and Refer suicide prevention course
EAGLE — Eagle County Public Health, in partnership with Speak Up Reach Out, is offering a Question, Persuade and Refer Suicide Prevention Training from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the Garden Level Classroom of the Eagle County Building, located at 500 Broadway in Eagle. The course is free, and lunch will be provided.
The QPR training is designed to teach the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. The process follows three steps:
1. Question the individual’s desire or intent regarding suicide,
2. Persuade the person to seek and accept help and
3. Refer the person to appropriate resources.
Trainees will receive a QPR booklet and wallet card as a review and resource tool. The information includes local referral resources. To RSVP for the QPR training, visit goo.gl/NELsLZ. For more information, contact Sarah Kennedy at email@example.com.
