Eagle County offers seasonal flu vaccination

Daily staff report

EAGLE COUNTY — Eagle County Public Health is offering vaccinations for the seasonal flu at all three of its locations. Flu shots are available for $14 to uninsured children and adults, as well as anyone covered by Medicaid or an insurance that does not cover the cost of flu vaccine. Eagle County Public Health is an in-network provider for Rocky Mountain Health Plans and CHP+ and will bill insurance for all covered persons. No one will be turned away due to inability to pay. Contact one of the three clinic locations to schedule an appointment:

• Avon, 100 W. Beaver Creek Blvd., Suite 107, 970-328-9813.

• Eagle, 551 Broadway, 970-328-8840.

• El Jebel, 0020 Eagle County Drive, Suite E, 970-328-9586.

All community members are encouraged to get vaccinated against the flu. According to Eagle County Public Health Director Jennifer Ludwig, flu shots are critical to keeping families and communities healthy.

“Eagle County Public Health and many health care offices, clinics and pharmacies are already offering the vaccine,” she said. “So don’t wait, get your vaccination now to protect yourself and your family against the flu.”

Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control indicate that everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated for the seasonal flu every year. Most health insurance plans cover the cost of vaccination at a regular clinic, provider office or pharmacy.
