Eagle County OKs Dotsero land deal
What they did: The Eagle County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve a sales contract for a 45-acre piece of land just to the west of the RV park west of Gypsum. The land straddles the Eagle River. County Attorney Bryan Treu said the price had come down from $1.2 million just last year to $425,000 now.
The money to buy the land will come from the county’s open space fund; that money can’t legally be spent on anything but open space.
What’s next? The sales contract is contingent on approval from the Eagle County Open Space Advisory Committee. At least one public hearing will be held on the purchase, too.
If the sale closes, the land will be owned by the county and could conceivably be improved for recreation.
What they talked about: In the wake of the sudden resignation of Vail Valley Medical Center CEO John Cassin, the board agreed to ask to meet with the medical center’s board of directors to talk about future plans.
