Eagle County residents: sign up for new emergency alert system

Daily Staff Report
Vail CO, Colorado

EAGLE COUNTY ” Residents can now receive immediate emergency information wherever they are with the county’s new Roam Secure Alert Network.

The system will contact you during a major emergency or crisis with alerts, notifications and updates on all your mobile devices: cell phones, pagers, Smartphones and PDA’s, or via any email address.

Roam Secure is your personal, customizable connection to real-time updates, emergency instructions and other important information.

Users can sign up to receive information county-wide, or only in a specific neighborhood or town. You also have the option of receiving messages only during the day, or 24 hours a day.

“Roam Secure gives us one more tool to provide essential information to our citizens and fills a void that is created when people do not have a hard line phone at their business or residence,” said Eagle County Emergency Manager Barry Smith. “This will be a great supplement to the Emergency Alert System and the EPN or 911 callback systems that we currently have in place.”

Registering for the Roam Secure Alert Network is free at http://www.ecalert.org. Text message charges from your carrier may apply, and will not be reimbursed by the county or towns.
