Eagle County wins ‘Rodeo of the Year’

EAGLE, Colorado ” Top contestants from the Mountain States Rodeo Circuit have voted the 2008 Eagle County, Colorado Fair and Rodeo “Rodeo of the Year” and “Most Improved Rodeo of the Year.”
Longtime rodeo announcer Les Ohlhauser announced and accepted the awards on behalf of the county at the Dodge Mountain States PRORODEO Circuit finals in Denver. The contestants cited selection criteria such as provision of horse stalls, arena conditions, purse size and best VIP treatment for contestants and their families. Also acknowledged was the excellent family environment of the event and the community in which it’s held.
“I would like to congratulate the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo Committee, the county commissioners and the community for doing an outstanding job with the entire fair and rodeo,” Ohlhauser said.
“Everyone who worked on this year’s event gave their all,” said Fair and Rodeo Manager Brad Higgins. “We went into it with the goal of making it the best in 69 years and feel like these awards affirm those efforts.”
The Mountain States Circuit hosts more than 50 rodeos each year in Colorado and Wyoming.
