Eagle Farmers Market back on track

A week after the formal announcement that the Eagle Farmer’s Market was canceled for this summer, a group has stepped forward to save the event.

The new market will be a downsized version of the original proposal, planned for Eagle Town Park on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. July 5 through Sept. 13 and then on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 and 28 and Oct. 5.

Organizer Carol Onderdonk said shoppers can expect booths from Clark Family Orchards and Myron and Rose Hosteller along with prepared food options from Nickie’s Quickies, Old Kentucky Tavern and Simple Fork. “We will also have other vendors with various items of interest,” she said.

What the market won’t have is a full-fledged entertainment and activities schedule, although Onderdonk said various groups have expressed interest in special demonstrations during some of the days. “Yoga Off Broadway will be doing some events and people are chiming in with things they want to do. Every week will be a surprise,” she said.

Last week Eagle Farmer’s Market organizer Gladdie Funke announced the event had been canceled for 2013.
