Eagle: Learn to grow a vegetable garden
EAGLE, Colorado The Mountain Adapted Landscape series concludes today at the Eagle Public Library with Container Gardening: Herbs & Vegetables, presented by Master Gardener Cheryl Phillips of Earth Songs Gardening. This evening educational series is designed for both novice and veteran mountain gardeners. Space is limited and registration and pre-payment ($15) are required.Refreshments begin at 5 p.m., followed by the lecture and discussion from 5:30 to 7 p.m.Wednesdays presentation covers the design and maintenance of vegetable and herb container gardens, said Laurel Potts, horticulture agent for CSU Extension. Participants get to create a container garden, Potts said. They just need to bring their own container, no larger than 12 inches, as soil and plants are provided. Its a fun, hands-on class.The Mountain Adapted Landscape series provides information about plant materials, techniques, and other tips for landscaping in the mountain climate and is presented in partnership by Colorado State University Extension, Eagle Valley Library District and Eagle River Water & Sanitation District.For more information or to register, contact the Eagle Public Library at 970-328-8800.
