EAGLE — AB Consulting and Laughing Buddha Community Acupuncture present Better Together: A Personal Development Group with Amanda Brooke Leavitt on June 18.

Are you experiencing drama in your life? Have you been avoiding difficult conversations? Effective communication is arguably one of the most important elements to healthy relationships. It is also one of the first tools to go when things get hard.

“Our lives are complex and busy,” said Leavitt, the lead facilitator of Better Together and founder of AB Consulting. “We frequently forget to focus on some of the most important things in life simply because they do not seem as pressing as other responsibilities. Connection, trust, love and friendships are what we remember over the years. Communication is the overarching tool responsible for creating these memorable and important aspects of our lives. That is why we are presenting Better Together: A Personal Development Group.”

This is the second Better Together group. It focuses on communication, both with ourselves and others.

“We will begin by noticing the nature of our daily thought patterns and become aware of when our minds get the best of us,” Leavitt said. “We will discuss factors that commonly blur the effectiveness of feedback. Once we know what normally happens during these conversations, we will work to notice them in practice. Then I will offer tools to alter the course of these conversations to produce better results, both as givers and receivers. Keep in mind that feedback is more than your annual performance review. It is the seemingly offhand remark your wife or husband makes as they walk in the door, the constant pressure from your parents and the middle finger you got last week when you pulled in front of someone in the roundabout.”

All Better Together meetings include personal-inquiry and sharing — either with another person, a small group or the group at large.

Comfortable, casual attire is recommended. Space is limited to 30 people this month, so be sure to reserve your spot.
