Eagle River Station review postponed
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE, Colorado ” Review of Eagle River Station, the large commercial and residential development proposed on 80 acres east of Eagle and south of Interstate 70, has been put on hold by the planning commission that advises the town board.
Eagle Town Planner Bill Gray anticipates the planning commission continue the review at the end of the month.
The decision to table the hearing came after a staff memo cited several concerns with the plan. Gray, in his analysis of the project, said Eagle River Station was “a portrait of an average, ordinary modern shopping center” that didn’t fit with Eagle’s view of itself as a small mountain town.
The memo cites several other concerns about the project’s retail mix, landscaping, and parking.
On the subject of traffic, town staff noted that Eagle River Station could cause of lot of it and that the developers have to beef up its plans to improveme U.S. Highway 6.
Additionally, Gray said that the five- to six-story buildings the developer plans are too high.
The Eagle River Station development application can be viewed at the town’s website, http://www.townofeagle.org
