Eagle River Water and Sanitation District employees honored

VAIL, Colorado – Eagle River Water and Sanitation District recently honored several employees. The district acknowledges employees for every five years of service and recognized 19 employees for reaching five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, and 25-year anniversaries in 2011.
The annual “Bennie’s Breakfast” began in 1988 when Bennie Atencio became the first employee to reach 20 years of service at the district. The district’s most tenured employee, Roy Vasquez, retired in 2009 after 38 years.
“Our employees develop extensive knowledge of the water and wastewater systems during the course of their employment,” said district human resources director Angelo Fernandez. “Employee longevity is vital to the district and the community we serve.”
The district presented longevity awards for 25 years of service to Becky Bultemeier and Frank Medina. Kathy Garrison was recognized for 20 years of service, while Parker Newbanks and Bob Will were both recognized for 15 years of service. 14 other employees received recognition for five- and 10-year anniversaries.
A total of 19 other employees were acknowledged for professional certifications achieved in 2010. The annual employee recognition event also included the presentation of awards for leadership and employee of the year, both of which went to Edwards Wastewater Treatment Plant staff. Supervisor Parker Newbanks earned the Leadership Award while Wastewater Treatment Operator Bob Will earned the Employee of the Year Award.
