Eagle seeking volunteers for river park committee

EAGLE — The town of Eagle is seeking applications from members of the public to serve on a volunteer committee to support the implementation of the Eagle River Park and the Eagle River Corridor Plan.

Members of the nine-member committee will be ambassadors for the project throughout the Eagle County community and will assist in private fundraising efforts. Committee members will be appointed by the Eagle Town Board and will be supported by the town’s Eagle River Corridor Plan project coordinator, a selected town trustee and additional town of Eagle staff.

“We are looking for individuals throughout Eagle and the county who are passionate about the river park project to help keep the rest of the community informed and engaged as the town shepherds this project through from design to completion,” said project coordinator Caroline Bradford. “We saw from the election in April and the passing of the .5 percent sales tax increase that there are a number of people who are interested in being ambassadors, raising funds and seeing this project through.”

Eagle resident Markian Feduschak is excited to volunteer for the citizen’s committee.

“Not everyone is a rafter, stand-up paddler or kayaker,” Feduschak said. “There is opportunity for anyone who sees this project as a public benefit to participate, including those interested in water quality, sustainability, the riverside park, fishing, trails or the connection to downtown Eagle and Broadway.”

Any volunteer interested in serving on the committee is eligible to apply, with priority given to those who have demonstrated prior experience in community fundraising campaigns and those with a dedication to the town of Eagle and the Eagle River.

Applicants are asked to complete the application cover form found at http://www.town ofeagle.org and include a letter of interest outlining their experience and reason for wishing to serve on the Eagle River Park Citizen’s Committee.

Applications should be sent to John Schneiger, Eagle Town Manager: john.schneiger@townofeagle.org. Deadline for applications/letters of interest is Friday, Sept. 30. The Eagle Town Board will select committee members at the Oct. 11 regularly scheduled town board meeting.
