Eagle-to-Gypsum bike trail opens next week

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado Cyclists can expect to ride on clear trails downvalley by next week, said ECO Trails Director Ellie Caryl.The Eagle-to-Gypsum paved trail will be plowed and swept for the spring by next Wednesday, but trail users still need to be careful on parts of the trail.Be aware that the shady part of the trail, particularly the trail tunnel under the railroad tracks, may be icy as surrounding snow continues to melt, Caryl said.B&B Excavating will also be doing construction by the Montgomery gravel pit, just west of Eagle and south of the river during March and April. The work will include building new lanes on Highway 6 and paving the trail by the new lanes.Construction is expected to be complete by the end of April and in the meantime there will be a detour.Users also need to follow signs at the Violet Lane trail entrance. The town of Eagle is rebuilding the bridge over Brush Creek through early May, and there will be work on the road and wastewater treatment plant on Violet Lane.
