Eagle-Vail is in unincorporated Eagle County. Its government is a metropolitan district with an elected board. That board operates the neighborhood's golf course and other recreational amenities using property tax revenues.

The association board works with the district board. It manages association bylaws and declarations, and acts as the neighborhood's design review board. Actual approval of building projects is made through Eagle County's government.
