Eagle-Vail’s Get Hi Gallery broken into

Matt Zalaznick

The break-in occurred some time between the store’s closing Tuesday evening and when co-owner Jey Henk opened the U.S. Highway 6 gallery on Wednesday.

“Somebody proceeded to take all of our more expensive pieces – all of them were over $700 range,” Henk says.

Money was also stolen from the gallery’s cash register.

The tobacco pipes, some rather elaborate, were handmade by Colorado glass blowers, Henk says.

“Many pieces took over 20 hours of work to produce,” Henk says. “One had an opal and another was a dragon sculpture with a rider. Some were very elaborate pieces of art.”

The gallery opened in August.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at 328-8500. Tipsters can also call Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 962-TIPS and could earn a cash reward of up to $2,000.
