Eagle Valley Library District launches ‘Dream Big – READ’ summer reading program
Get ready to dream a little dream this summer. Join the Avon, Eagle and Gypsum Public Libraries for this year’s summer reading program, “Dream Big –READ.” Students entering first through sixth grades are invited to join the library for eight weeks of summer reading fun. The libraries will be offering a variety of weekly programs, movies, and contests centered on all things nocturnal – dreams, stars and planets, bats and owls, spooky stories and more.
Registration for summer reading begins at the district-wide kickoff celebrations on Thursday at the Eagle Public Library, and Friday at the Gypsum and Avon Public Libraries. Award winning children’s musician Eddie Coker will perform a live concert at the libraries on the following dates and times:
Eagle Public Library: Thursday, 1 p.m.
Gypsum Public Library: Friday, 11 a.m.
Avon Public Library: Friday, 2 p.m.

Each child who signs up for the “Dream Big –READ” summer reading program receives a free book bag with a schedule of events and a reading log to keep track of time spent reading. Prizes are awarded throughout the summer as children reach each of their targeted reading goals.
“Studies show kids read more when they’re having fun, when they see others reading, and when they can choose their own reading material,” said Robyn Bryant, children’s librarian at the Eagle Public Library. “Summer time is the perfect opportunity to encourage reading in a fun, engaging way.”
