GYPSUM – Eagle Valley High School students participated in the International Day of Climate Action this past weekend.

Pictures of students appeared Saturday on the marquee at Times Square in New York, N.Y. To support the International Day of Climate Action, 181 countries sent in more than 15,000 pictures to 350.org, an organization U.S. author Bill McKibben launched. McKibben wrote one of the first books on global warming.

The pictures filtered through the marquee in Times Square to inspire people to reduce their carbon footprint and preserve the atmosphere.

Eagle Valley High School students pledged to reduce their carbon footprint in correlation to the world-wide efforts of 350.org.

“We hope that this commitment will help the students realize that they can take action to change the current situation,” said Cathy Casper, a teacher at Eagle Valley High School.
