Community Pride Highway Cleanup
What: More than 950 volunteers join in on this annual rite of spring to pick up litter from 140 miles of Eagle County highways (I-70 & Highways 6, 24 & 131).
When: Saturday, April 25
Time: 9 a.m.
Where: Teams spread out to locations countywide
Details: After a morning of hard work, volunteers gather at the Broken Arrow at Arrowhead where participants and their families are invited to a free thank you BBQ from noon to 2 p.m. with food, beer from Crazy Mountain, live music from First Chair and a raffle. BOOK BUZZ
What: Librarians Robyn and Amy will share information about their favorite recent reads.

Details: This month’s session will feature titles form the upcoming Books in Bloom event authors. The public is welcome to attend. The discussion, and will be followed by April book club discussion of Karen Joy Fowler’s “We are all Completely Beside Ourselves.”
FLY FISHING WITH DUANE REDFORD
What: Fly-fishing guide Duane Redford, author of “Fly Fisher’s Playbook” will do a power point presentation for the public.

Eagle Ranch Yard Sale
What: Eagle Ranch residents will clean out their closets and offer their excess belongings for sale.
When: Saturday, May 2
Time: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Locations throughout the neighborhood
Details: Anyone interested in participating can send details to Erin Vega at evega@eastwestresorts.com. Details should include house address and some of the main items to be sold. A garage sale ad will be placed in the Vail Daily on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2, and maps will be printed to help shoppers find their way to the participating homes. The maps will be available for pick up on Friday and Saturday at Slifer Smith & Frampton (Eagle office) and the Eagle Ranch Fitness Club. Last year nearly 40 homes participated.
Melee in the Mountains
What: A mix-up tournament hosted by the 10th Mountain Roller Dolls
When: Saturday, May 2
Time: Action begins at 11 a.m., the championship bout is planned at 3:30 p.m.

Nimon Walker Award
What: Eagle County Historical Society and Eagle Valley Library District will recognize Richard Perske for his efforts to preserve local history.
When: Sunday, May 3
Time: 2 to 4 p.m.

Details: Perske will be honored for his work on a new book “Boom Town to Ghost Town: The Story of Fulford.” The event will include a reception and a performance by Aspen’s History Players.
Western Slope Home & Recreation Expo
What: The region’s largest home show features manufacturers and retailers from across the region showcasing remodeling and repair products.
When: Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Eagle River Center at Eagle County Fairgrounds
