Eagle launches water main project; expect road closures

EAGLE — After living through two summers of roundabout construction, Eagle motorists have become quite skilled at maneuvering through traffic projects.

Starting Monday, they will have a brand new challenge.

Construction crews have already begun mobilizing for this summer’s downtown water main construction project. Construction will impact the Second Street, Capitol Street and Wall Street areas.

“Phase 1 construction will begin Monday and be completed by July 31, weather dependent,” said assistant town engineer Deron Dircksen. “The construction area will start at Capitol Street near Highway 6 and go south to the Capitol Street/Second Street intersection, then go west along Second Street near Broadway.”

Dircksen said Phase 2 construction is slated to begin July 20 and end Sept. 30. The construction area will start at Second Street near Wall Street and go south along Wall Street to Fifth Street, along Third Street between Wall Street and Washington Street, and Fourth Street between Wall Street and Broadway.

“During construction, water service will be interrupted periodically,” said Dircksen. “For these scheduled interruptions, the town will notify residents. However, there may be unforeseen water interruptions during construction.”

He added there also will be impacts to access, parking, deliveries and trash collection.

“While we are working on the water main construction, the road will be closed to through traffic,” said Dircksen. “However access for local traffic will have variable closures throughout the day.”
