Eagle Valley Elementary is the oldest operating school building in the community, but it will soon have a specially designed new playground and EVES families are joining in the effort to make that project happen.
On Sunday, May 3, EVES will host a Fiesta Fun Run and party with proceeds dedicated to a new International Baccalaureate (IB) themed and universally accessible playground at the school. The 5K run, and a 1 mile fun run, is planned from noon to 1 p.m. with the fiesta following from 1 to 4 p.m. The events are planned at the EVES campus.
Since January 2011, Eagle Valley Elementary School has been fully authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program. EVES offers its IB program in a dual language setting.
The IB Primary Years Program is a curriculum framework focused on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. An aim of the program is to create a transdisciplinary curriculum that is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant for learners in the 3-12 age range.
