Celebrity chef event

The Roaring Fork Valley’s local celebrity chef Susie Jimenez is hosting Imagine 2 on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Carbondale.

The event benefits the River Bridge Regional Center, a child advocacy center based in Glenwood Springs serving the four counties of Pitkin, Eagle, Garfield, and Rio Blanco. River Bridge uses a multidisciplinary approach to the prevention, investigation and treatment of child abuse.

Imagine 2 guests will be treated to wine and beer, live music by the Starletts, dancing, silent auction, as well as a delicious culinary experience hosted by Susie’s Spice It Up and Presenting Sponsors Bravo Fine Catering + US Chef Association, The Pullman, Phat Thai, Allegria, Gandhi India’s Cuisine and Tempranillo.

Gypsy Reggae

On Friday, Feb. 21, local artists will perform original gypsy reggae music on the Painters Stage, located at the intersection of 9th Street and Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs.

There will be fun and great food for all ages and it all begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Monday Jazz

More music is played on Monday, Feb.24 at the Hotel Colorado.

The Monday Night Jazz Jam Session begins at 7 p.m. and is an open session for musicians of all levels looking to improvise over jazz standards in public. Spectators are welcome and encouraged. Admission is free.

Stars of Tomorrow Auditions

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, beginning at 6 p.m. the Glenwood Kiwanis will host Stars of Tomorrow auditions.

This is an opportunity for amateur talent of school age — grades 4 through 12 — to express themselves before the public and aid in the development of their abilities. The Stars of Tomorrow is open to all students of a public, private, or parochial school not above the 12th grade.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship prizes and thereby have a chance to move on to the district competition, the contestant must have reached his or her 13th birthday by Feb. 26, 2014. All contestants who are below this age are welcome to try out for “Showcase Talent” of up and coming Stars, but are not eligible for prizes or the district competition.

Auditions will be held at the Glenwood Springs High School Small Performance Room on Wednesday, Feb. 26, starting at 6 p.m. The show will be at 7 p.m., Friday, March 7 at the Glenwood Springs High School Auditorium. There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal on Thursday, March 6 at 5 p.m. at GSHS.

Talent chosen for the competition, those 13 years or age and older, will be required to have a sponsor. Sponsors, local business or individual, should provide the contestant with a $100 sponsorship fee.
