Racers celebrating the 2013 -- and the first ever -- Aspen TNT (Town 'N Trail) Race.

Aspen TNT 10K

The 2nd Annual Aspen TNT (Town-N-Trail) 10K Race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. at Koch Park in Aspen.

The race showcases a unique route on various trails, bike paths and sidewalks around the town of Aspen, and is being held to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Colorado-Wyoming Chapter.

The TNT race begins and ends at Koch Park and a post-race party follows at the Limelight Hotel. There will be live music, food and drinks, giveaways and cash prizes for top male and female runners, and best costume.

Shuffle Race for Literacy

The Glenwood Canyon Shuffle Race for Literacy is Saturday, Oct. 4 beginning at 9 a.m.

Runners and walkers are invited to stretch their legs for literacy in this half-marathon (13.1-mile) run and 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run/walk. It will take place on the bike path in scenic Glenwood Canyon east of Glenwood Springs.

The half-marathon begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10 a.m. Buses will take participants from the finish line at the No Name exit of Glenwood Canyon to the race starting points. Online registration is available at

DECA Invitational

The 32nd Glenwood Springs DECA Invitational event is coming.

Seven hundred plus high school participants and advisers will be competing. The event is sponsored by the international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, management, and other business areas. Glenwood Springs has hosted this learning experience for DECA students for 32 years.
