Gypsum Fall Festival, Haunted House & Zombie Run

Special to the Enterprise |
With its mild temperatures and colorful foliage the town of Gypsum provides a perfect autumn backdrop for the community’s annual Fall Fest Saturday, Oct.18 at Lundgren Theater.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District’s Zombie Run 5K. This 3.2 mile course is an up and back trek at dusk. Watch out, zombies will haunt runners as they cruise the course. Zombie dress is also encouraged for the runners.
Following the race, head over to Lundgren Theatre for tunes by Already Gone, free hot dogs provided by Bella’s Market as well as popcorn and water.
After a quick “bite,” kids can try their luck at some freakishly fun carnival games. There will games for young and old as well a bounce castle for the little ones, a “Wipeout” attraction for the older kids, and families can try the new corn maze.

Also new to the event will be Punkin’ Chunkin’ involving a full-size slingshot style “pumpkin” thrower. The thrower will be geared for not only strong folks, but also the smaller pumpkin tossers as well.
Participants can finish the night off in our Haunted Maze. The crazy scientist, spider lady, ghosts and ghouls will either scare you out of your wits or make you laugh. From 5 to 6 p.m. the haunted house will be tame for the little ones. But from 6 to 8 p.m. the folks inside will do their best to scare everyone silly.
