Historical Society seeks volunteers to help present school programs
The Eagle County Historical Society is looking for volunteers to help present programs to local schools.
The group’s “History Take-Out” program for fourth graders features a large floor map of Colorado that the kids can walk across, a timeline they can post on and artifacts from different cultures in the state’s history including Utes, mountain men and miners. The students use the artifacts to learn about a specific culture and then make a mini-presentation to the class about what they have learned.
Each program is about a 45-minute to an hour time commitment.
“We serve both upvalley and downvalley schools. Volunteers can chose where they would like to help,” said Kathy Heicher, ECHS president
Anyone interested in this volunteer opportunity can call or email Heicher to learn more at email@example.com or 970-328-7104.
