Minturn Cemetery Tour slated Saturday, Sept. 6
There are plenty of interesting people buried in Minturn’s Riverview Cemetery and valley residents will have an opportunity to hear their life stories and learn the community’s history on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Eagle County Historical Society’s Minturn Cemetery Tour.
Actors and actresses from local theater companies will portray the Minturn community’s pioneering citizens. The walking tours will last about 75 minutes. Expect to meet early-day homesteaders, adventurous gold miners and railroaders while learning the history of this 110-year-old mountain town.
Tours will begin at 9 a.m. and run every 20 minutes throughout the day with the final tour departing at 3:40 p.m. Cost is $15 per person in advance, or $20 on the day of the event. Advance tickets may be purchased on-line at eaglecountyhistoricalsociety.com; or call 800-838-3006.
Tours are expected to fill up early. Advance reservations are advised. All proceeds benefit the Eagle County Historical Society. Questions may be directed to ECHS President Kathy Heicher at 328-7104.
