New ownership plans May 2 opening for Adam’s Mountain Country Club

Enterprise staff report

The Denver-based investment group led by Chad Brue, principal of Brue Capital, that purchased Adam’s Rib Ranch property and Adam’s Mountain Country Club last month has issued its first statement regarding the 2,655 acres located just south of Eagle.

Brue led the acquisition team along with Vail-based entrepreneur Dan Bennett, owner and operator of Southwest Greens of Colorado. Bennett owns and manages several golf courses in Colorado including the Cordillera Short Game course.

The original developer of Adam’s Rib Ranch, Fred Kummer, and HBE Corporation, a design-build firm who began assembling the Adam’s Rib in 1973, sold the property March 20.

“We are absolutely thrilled to become stewards of the storied Adam’s Rib Development and Adam’s Mountain Country Club,” said Brue. “There aren’t many properties in the world with the beauty of the Brush Creek Valley, the proximity to world-class ski resorts, summer recreation and the magnificent lifestyle choices that Adam’s Rib offers. Add the extraordinary assets that Adam’s Rib has in place and an increasingly robust real estate market and we feel that we are poised for a bright future.”

The Adam’s Rib Ranch property and the Adam’s Mountain Country Club comprise 2,655 acres including an 18-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course, a 16,000 square foot golf maintenance facility, a 40,000 square-foot clubhouse with Olympic sized pool, a tennis court and on-property fishing rights in Brush Creek.

Also included in the purchase are five new-construction spec-homes, five member cottages, 91 finished residential lots ranging from 3.6 to 9.9 acres and a working 1,553-acre ranch with water rights on Brush Creek.

“The Eagle Valley offers some of the most extraordinary communities and golf courses in the world,” said Bennett. “Adam’s Rib stands out among them as a gem that has been off the radar for decades. Our intent is to illuminate the possibilities and establish a community and a Club that are a source of immense pride for homeowners and members.”

Meriwether Companies, who will manage the golf and development for Brue Capital, has a long track record as a premiere real estate and golf club developer in the western United States with projects in Telluride, Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs, Colorado, as well as in Texas, California and Costa Rica.

“As in previous years, Adam’s Mountain Country Club opens the first week of May,” said Garrett Simon, partner for Meriwether Companies. “We hope to have the initial real estate offering and our membership offerings for the summer season available shortly.”
