Ski for the Cure celebrates ‘14 success
Ski for the Cure at Aspen was a success raising $15,000 to support the fight against breast cancer.
The event was sponsored by Ski Junk, Viceroy Snowmass, Aspen Skiing Company, and Merrill Lynch. Merrill Lynch also had the top fund-raising team for the event. The top fund-raising individual was Donna Di Ianni. NASTAR top finishers included Dee Mathews as the fastest survivor; Nick Metzger as the fastest male and Kira Smith as the fastest female. The Pink Power Niners won the on-mountain scavenger hunt and pinkest team award.
The day full of skiing ended with an apres ski party located at the Capitol Peak Ballroom at Base Village. Dana Underwood and Hayden Gregg provided entertainment for the crowd. Photography was provided by Doug McMillan with BDM Photography.
The Komen Colorado Ski for the Cure in its fourth year has impacted countless individuals within the service area of Pitkin, Eagle and Garfield western Colorado. It has brought survivors, supporters and individuals in the community together for a greater purpose and has, more importantly, allowed Komen Colorado to continue to focus on supporting low income and uninsured individuals in the community and ensure that all individuals have access to quality breast health care. Komen Colorado is one of the largest medical grant-making organizations for women living with breast cancer in the area.
