Devils take Huskies

In local football, the Eagle Valley Devils beat the Battle Mountain Huskies 35-13 in the cross-county annual rivalry.

The game was played in Gypsum.

2015 World Alpine Ski Championships

The meetings, inspections and presentations have concluded and it’s now full speed ahead for the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships at Vail and Beaver Creek.

Organizers have been given the thumbs up from the FIS Coordination Committee following the final inspection last week.

Wheels and Wings

The annual auto/aircraft show, Wheels and Wings, was held at the Vail Valley Jet Center and the Eagle County Regional Airport this past weekend.

It featured more than 250 cars, 100 motorcycles, and 50 aircraft.

Sibling stabbing

A Glenwood Springs man was arrested last week after he admitted stabbing his brother in the neck with a hunting knife in a fight in their mother’s basement

Aaron Laemmel, 24, told police the fight started when his 27-year-old brother William accused Aaron of dumping Cheetos on William’s bed.

Horse riding accident

A 70-year-old Basalt woman was transported to an area hospital after she fell off a horse and into a ditch.

After the fall, the the horse fell on top of the woman. She suffered traumatic injuries.
